Sunday, March 12 at 1:30pm.

Shinnecock artist and educator Denise “Weetahmoe” Silva-Dennis will talk about the growth and evolution of the Native American whale fishery of eastern Long Island.  The Shinnecock people (meaning "People of the Stony Shore") have occupied Long Island for 10,000 years, relying on the ocean for sustenance.  This interdependence and proximity played a vital part in forming values and culture, which in turn shaped the future of the island. We hope you will join us.
