East End Libraries Present A Virtual Author Event: Carmen Bugan: Burying the Typewriter: Childhood Under the Eye of the Secret Police

Monday, December 7 at 5:00pm. When 12-year-old Carmen Bugan's father, a Romanian political dissident, disappeared at the hands of Nicholae Ceausecu's Securitate, it marked the beginning of 5 years of unimaginable horrors. Twenty-five years later, that child, now a prize winning poet and professor, has written a stunning memoir of life under that regime.
