Thursday, July 16 at 5:30pm. Rogers Memorial Library and the East End Library Program Partnership present a special author event.

A woman who wished to be a scientist in early 20th century England would have to overcome extraordinary obstacles. But then, Celia Paayne-Gaposchkin was an extraordinary woman, brilliant, fierce, talented and determined, the first woman to receive a PhD in astronomy from Radcliffe College, the first promoted to full professor at Harvard, the first to head a department there. And, in what has been called “the most brilliant PhD thesis ever written in astronomy,” she was the first to describe what stars are made of. Join author Donovan Moore be prepared to be amazed.
