Thursday, June 13 at 7:00PM. (Zoom Virtual Event)
When bicycles and motorcycles started to become popular in the late 1800s, adventurous women hopped on and changed everything from the way women were viewed by society to fashion (those long skirts were hardly suitable riding attire). These “freedom machines” allowed women to venture out without a male chaperone to exercise in fresh air, and even became a symbol in the struggle for women’s suffrage.
An East End Libraries Event hosted by North Shore Public Library.
