Long Island has long been overlooked as a battleground of the civil rights movement. History Professor Christopher Verga, author of Civil Rights on Long Island (Images of America) will discuss events on Long Island in the 1960s, which happened alongside those in the American South at the same time, and the struggle to bring about change.
