Friday, August 3 at 12:00pm. Hmong pandau textile art (or flower cloth in the Hmong language), can range from story cloths of up to several square feet to skirts, baby carriers and men's collars. Flower cloth employs a variety of techniques including embroidery, applique and batik, using figurative images to recount stories from Hmong history and folklore. Join Professor Mary K. Chelton as she talks about collecting Hmong textile art (on display in the Library in August) and the rich history and culture of the Hmong people of Asia.
