Dessert and Discuss with the Greater Westhampton Historical Museum: Beneath Our Hallowed Grounds

Local burying grounds and historic cemeteries are endangered, their monuments exposed to the elements, and their inscriptions vulnerable to loss and deterioration. But these monuments are the records of our past and their headstones preserve their stories. Learn more in this 3-part series with the Greater Westhampton Beach Historical Museum.

Julie Greene, Southampton Town Historian, takes a look at Southampton’s notable graveyard inhabitants who were the heroes and heroines of yesterday, early war veterans, sea captains, freed enslaved people and everyday men and women. As you will learn by examining their individual gravesites, each person made a unique mark on the history of our Town.

Westhampton Free Library strives to create respectful and family-friendly experiences.  We ask that all participants in library programs be mindful and polite.  Guests who are disruptive, engage in bullying, or otherwise do not conduct themselves in a respectful manner in accordance with the Library's Maintenance of Public Order at Library Facilities and Rules for Use of the Library policies, may be removed. We thank you in advance for your courtesy.
