Wednesday, July 11 at 3:00pm. Rip tides, or more accurately rip currents, are powerful, narrow channels of fast-moving water that can move at up to 8 feet per second - faster than an Olympic swimmer. Approximately 100 swimmers die in rip currents each year and lIfeguards perform more than 67,000 rip current rescues annually. Shark attacks, meanwhile, average 19 per year. What can you do to avoid and survive these currents? Certified Lifeguards Caitlynn Webber and Kristin Webber will talk about how swimmers can navigate these potentially deadly waters - and live. Join us for this life-saving discussion.
