While coronary artery disease is the leading cause of death for both women and men in the U.S., the impact on women has been underestimated for many years. Dr. Edlira Tam, an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologist and the Associate Director of LVAD (Left Ventricular Assist Device) and Shock Programs at the Stony Brook Heart Institute, will discuss the contributing risk factors and common misconceptions about heart disease in women, as well as treatment options and suggestions for healthy lifestyle changes.
